I can’t explain it; it’s a mystery, but I feel compelled to mountain bike. I’m not sure why. As I struggle to bike in this mountainous terrain my thighs burn; my calves and glutes scream for mercy. My heart pounds so hard it makes my teeth ache. I sweat and pant and wish for wings. Even my odometer refuses to work on this rough, uphill journey.

Why do I do this?
