SALEM — Plenty of hard work and dedication to technical details have lifted the Mt. Abram ski teams into contention for a run at this week’s Mountain Valley Conference ski championships. The Roadrunners will be taking a strong team into the newly formatted conference title races at Black Mountain in Rumford and Titcomb Mountain in Farmington.

CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The Fourth Annual Maine Huts & Trails Classic Ski Marathon Race and Tour is set for Sunday, Feb. 12.

Courses include a 20K, 40K and 60K.

This year, a tour segment has been added to the 20K and 40K with flexible start times. Tourers will be differentiated with a different bib and will not be timed.

Indoor soccer program begins soon

WESTERN MOUNTAINS — The Western Mountain Youth Soccer Association recently announced the details of its program for the 2012 indoor soccer season.

Division I, grades 8 through 12, will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 or 8 p.m. Feb. 28 to March 20, with the final game March 23.

Saddleback Mountain Challenge coming

RANGELEY — Saddleback will host the Saddleback Mountain Challenge Saturday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m.

This is a randonee style race up and down the mountain —skin up and ski down.

The marathon starts at 2 p.m. and is a seven-mile course with 1,800 feet of vertical.
