Reaping the rewards
The Kingfield Elementary School has realized the rewards of all the hard work and fundraising the students and PTA have done to update the playground equipment. Here, KES students enjoy playing on the large X-Wave and the Skate and Snowboard rides. "The kids are having a ball on them!" said Holly Taylor. (Submitted photos)

Tooting her own horn
The Bangor Symphony Orchestra's Lori Wingo, at right, demonstrates that the sounds coming from their brass instruments are conceptually similar to that of a hose or tube and a funnel. Here Kingfield eighth grader Lauren Crossman volunteers to demonstrate the sound in front of a gymnasium of students and guests. The BSO brass ensemble visited all four MSAD #58 elementary schools last week. The events were sponsored by the Kingfield POPS through its commitment to provide music exposure, arts, education and performance opportunities in local schools. The POPS will present its 7th annual outdoor concert Saturday evening on June 27, 2009. (David Hart photo)
