Selectmen promote to fill positions
KINGFIELD -- The selectmen met on Monday, Oct, 20 and the first order of business was to discuss the Town Clerk/Collector's position. Selectmen said that Town Clerk Stacie-Marie Rundlett had turned in her resignation. Reportedly, Rundlett accepted another positions as Town Manager for the Town of New Portland.
Administrative Assistant Greg Davis said that Leanna Targett, who in the past worked part-time at the town office, will take over the full-time clerks/collector position. Chairman John Dill said they will now advertise for someone to fill the newly opened part-time position.
Members reviewed a proposal for the ADA ramp improvement project at Webster Hall from a New Hampshire contractor and determined that the submittal was not what they were looking for. The selectmen agreed to take no action and continue their pursuit of proposals.
Davis submitted some information and prices for heating oil for town purchases, but the selectmen requested that he get more details so they can better compare their purchase options.
Board members accepted the planning board resignation from Bob Konieczko and appointed Wade Brown from a list of five interested in serving. Selectmen also accepted the resignation of Betty Ann Listowich as of Nov. 30 noting that she'll stay on the board to finish a couple of projects that were before the planners.
"We certainly appreciate the work and the time that she's put in for the town," Dill said.
Selectpersons Neal McCurdy and Heather Moody agreed and expressed their gratitude for her service.
Selectmen acknowledged a proposal to replace the equipment from the eight pumping stations from Stevens Electric & Pump Service Inc. Members said the $54,574 total project is something that will be eventually needed, but noted that there is insufficient money budgeted at the time.
Davis noted that interviews were conducted for the replacement of William Neimi as Road Commissioner. Bruce White, who was an assistant to the commissioner, will take over. Davis said that an advertisement will go out to fill White's position.
Davis noted that a new 12 percent interest will be charged on any unpaid sewer fees for town users as of Jan. 1, 2009.
Davis lastly noted that the Sandy River Recycling Association lowered its member fee from $40 to $35 a ton even though it's operating budget was approved at an 8.7 percent increase. "This includes three percent salary increases with the largest single line item increase of $12,000 for fuel and oil," Davis said.
The next regularly scheduled meeting is set for Monday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m.
