Western Mountain Youth Soccer Championships

SALEM — Playoff games were held Sunday, Oct. 24 and Monday, Oct. 25 to determine the number one and two teams in each division in the Western Mountain Youth Soccer Association.
On Sunday afternoon, all 10 teams participated in the first and second round eliminations games, that eventually determined who would advance to the championship games which were played under the lights at Mt. Abram on Monday night.
In Division II (grades 1-3) Chicago Fire came out on top, defeating FC Dallas in a tight game, 1-0.
In Division I (grade 4-6) the undefeated team Mexico beat Brazil, 5-2.
All players on the four teams that participated in the championship games received medals. Every participant in the league received team photos at the end of their tournament games.

Organizers Jim Logan, Darren Allen and Mark Lopez were very pleased with the turnout of players for the league, which is in its inaugural year. Over 100 kids, from kindergarten through sixth grade, participated in the program which met on Sunday afternoons in September and October. Mt. Abram boys and girls soccer team players assisted coaching the teams and refereeing the games.
