Early morning accident
KINGFIELD — A 36-year-old Kingfield man received multiple injuries following a single vehicle accident on Route 27 about two miles north of Kingfield at 5:38 a.m. last Friday morning.
According to Maine State Trooper Aaron Turcotte, Warren Hinkley was operating a 1988 Chevy pick-up and was traveling south when he lost control of the vehicle going off the road with Hinkley being trapped in the vehicle.
Maine Drug Enforcement officer Gerry Baril of Carrabassett Valley came up on the accident and with the help of Lt. Don Pomelow from Troop C in Skowhegan, who happened to be in the area, the two men were able to pull Hinkley out of the vehicle, which they were afraid would explode.
NorthStar Ambulance responded to the scene taking Hinkley to Franklin Memorial Hospital and then later transferring him to the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Also helping at the accident were members of the Kingfield Fire Department.
Turcotte said that excessive speed was a factor in the accident.
