RANGELEY — Shirley A. Folsom, 64, of Rangeley, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a brief battle with cancer.

She was the wife of Tom Folsom and they were remarried on Aug. 20 of this year.

She was born in Waterville, the daughter of the late Allen and Jean Turner. She attended South Portland schools and South Portland High School and graduated from Central High School in Manchester, N.H. And went on to get her degree from Westbrook Jr. College in Westbrook, in 1965.

She worked a number of years at Waterville Valley Ski Area in the condominium management department and eventually moved to Rangeley to live and work for Noyce Real Estate. She managed Niboban Camps in Rangeley Plantation up until her illness.

Shirley was a great lover of the outdoors. She was a registered Maine guide and she and her husband and many close friends enjoyed fly-fishing, skeet shooting, hunting and skiing together. She was an avid gardener and took great pride in exercising her green thumb. Shirley loved travelling with Tom to the Florida Keyes in the spring for fishing and the sun. Having early roots close to the ocean, she especially enjoyed trips to the coast to be with family and walk the sandy beaches of southern Maine. A great

animal lover, she was always surrounded by a wonderful menagerie of pets. Shirley especially enjoyed the Sunday night gatherings with special friends here.

She leaves her husband, Tom; two sisters, Mrs. David Morgan of Phoenixville, Pa. and Mrs. Judith Fletcher of Kennebunk; two step-sons, Chris Dahlquist of Ashville, N.C. and Mathew Folsom of Steinhatchie, Fla.; a step-grandson, Gage Dahlquist/Folsom; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
