Spaghetti supper benefit

2008-11-19

CHESTERVILLE — There will be a benefit spaghetti supper at the Chesterville Town Hall on Saturday, Nov. 22 to help defray the medical expenses of Orin Knowles and Greg Soule.

Both Chesterville residents have recently suffered serious injuries which will limit their activities for some time. Town organizations will be working together to sponsor the supper, which will start at 4:30 p.m.

Organizers are hoping for a large turn-out, and encourage hunters to plan their day to end at the supper.

Anyone wishing to help or desiring further information can contact Cindy Whittier at 778-3078.

Caregiving and depression talk offered

FARMINGTON — A free talk on depression in caregivers will be offered at Franklin Memorial Hospital Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m.

"Could the sadness, loneliness or anger you feel today be a warning sign of depression? It's possible. It is not unusual for caregivers to develop mild or more serious depression as a result of the constant demands they face in providing care," a spokesperson for the Family Caregiver Alliance said.

Attendees will learn about the following: how depression works, symptoms of depression, special caregiver concerns, how is depression treated, learn about your own behavior patterns & begin to change them, strategies for helping yourself and getting your life back.

The facilitator will be Peg Gagnon, MS, Information & Outreach Specialist, Alzheimer's Association.

Light refreshments will be provided.

This event is sponsored by SeniorsPlus and in collaboration with the Administration on Aging and the Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter.
