This year's food drive in underway

FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce's 2008 Holiday Food Drive is underway. The goal is to provide a food basket for 50 families.

The chamber is asking for $25 donations which will help to purchase a Holiday Basket for a family of 4 (living in Franklin County) or to provide a non-perishable item needed to fill the baskets.

Each basket, which will cost from $50 to $60, consists of: one frozen turkey or 3-5 lb. canned ham, two boxes of stuffing - -any flavor, two cans of gravy, one one-lb. bag of carrots, two cans of cranberry jelly, one five-lb. bag of potatoes, two cans of peas, two cans of green beans, two cans of corn, one one-lb. bag of rice, one jar of peanut butter, one jar of jelly, one pkg. brown'n serve rolls, one pumpkin pie, one 8 oz. or larger container of cool whip, one loaf of bread, one jar of marshmallow fluff, one box of cereal (non-sweetened), one bag of oranges, one bag of apples, two cans of tuna, one family size can of tomato or chicken noodle soup, one jar or can of spaghetti sauce, one box of brownie mix, one five-lb. bag of white sugar, one five-lb. bag of all purpose flour, one box of hot chocolate, two cans of Spaghettios or similar, one jar of sweet mixed pickles and one holiday box of candy canes.

Donations must be received before Dec. 15, 2008, and may be mailed or dropped off at the chamber office: 407 Wilton Rd., Suite one, Farmington, Maine 04938.

Or, provide any non-perishable food item on the list to one of the drop off locations: Key Bank, downtown Wilton; Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, Farmington; Camden National Bank, Farmington; Western Mountain Chiropractic & Sports Injury, Narrow Gauge Square, Farmington; CSM Real Estate, Kingfield.
