Members prepare for Christmas fair

(Laura Dunham photo) KINGFIELD — Members of the Norton-Wuori American Legion Post #61 Auxiliary met on Monday at the Legion Hall. Joann Gillespie vice president conducted the business meeting in the absence of the president Lorraine Savage.

A thank-you note was read from Samantha Bessey thanking the members for the $300 scholarship toward her education at the Community College in Lewiston. Thank-you's were also read from the Muscular Dystrophy organization thanking the members for their donation in memory of the late Olive Bradbury. The members also voted to send $50 to the Togus gift shop for the veterans, to send gift cards to the Auxiliary's three oldest citizens and a give donation to a local family.

Longtime member Joann Meldrum Carey, who is vacationing from her home in Colorado, was welcomed. The members spent the evening decorating coffee cans for homemade cookies that will be sold at the Christmas Fair at the Kingfield school on Nov. 29.

The next meeting will be on Dec. 1 with a potluck supper at 6 p.m. followed by an exchange of gifts. Each member is asked to bring a man and a woman gift not to exceed $5 each.
