Boyces celebrate 50 years together
Leo and Patsy Boyce, of Kingfield, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. BAY PORT, N.Y. — Leo and Patsy Boyce, of Kingfield, were guests of honor recently a lawn party to celebrate the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The surprise celebration was given by their daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Greg Epilone and Patricia and Bill Penney-Pirozzi.
The catered affair was held at the Epilone's home in Bay Port. Over 40 family members and friends attended. Under a white canopy decorated with wedding bells, were round tables on which sat live blue spruce trees with gold wedding rings, tiny champagne glasses, little white doves and lace serving as centerpieces.
In keeping with a Maine theme, favors included small jars of honey on which daughter Pattie had placed labels reading, "Leo and Pat, 50 Years of Bee'n Honeys." There were also bottles of Poland Spring water from Kingfield.
The couple met at the Stanley School in Kingfield when Patsy Walker and her family moved to Maine in 1951. Patsy and Leo were married in Newport News, Va. upon Leo's discharge from active duty in the United States Army.
Leo retired from his work as a commercial lobsterman and fisherman working the waters off Long Island, and Patsy from her position as a personnel assistant in the William Floyd School District.
In addition to their two daughters, the couple has three grandchildren, Alison L. Epilone, Gregory Epilone Jr. and Abigail K. Penney.
The Boyces enjoy the great outdoors, especially the woods in Maine, snowmobiling and four-wheeling. Leo is an avid hunter and fisherman, and also enjoys working in his vegetable garden. Patsy loves working with her flowers and when unable to be outside, enjoys quilting.
They are happily spending their "golden years" in Kingfield.
