Phillips native Lewis Abbott turns 90
PHILLIPS — A surprise 90th birthday party for Lewis Abbott of Phillips was given by family at the home of his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Aaron and Dulcey Holbrook.
A buffet dinner was served to about 110 friends and relatives. A cake was made by his daughter-in-law, Katherine Abbott, in the form of a chainsaw with the saying, "90 years old and still sharp as a saw." The cake was cut and served by Dulcey.
Decorations were in fall colors with leaves and an orange candle in the center of the stand. Family pictures and a Happy Birthday sign surrounding the centerpiece. A decorated Longaberger Basket with leaves for cards and Halloween lights were strung outdoors, done by granddaughter Taren Bate. Kathy's Karaoke of Stratton provided music.
Abbott, a lumberman with many hobbies, still loves to hunt, have visitors, join family gatherings and watch the great-grandchildren.
He is the son of the late Harold and Velma Keef Abbott. He married the former Mertie Huntington on March 11, 1944. Abbott has two children, Elaine Holbrook and Michael Abbott; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and expects his first great-greatgrandson in early December.
