Franklin County Community College Network news

The Franklin County Community College Network (FCCCN) is the winner of the Maine Community Foundation's 2008 Noyce Award for Nonprofit Excellence. The network was founded on the principle that to improve the region's economic viability, residents need opportunities to develop marketable skills that lead to well-paying jobs. The Noyce Award includes an unrestricted $10,000 grant. "FCCCN's ability to bring businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, agencies, and state legislators together in a collaborative exchange is a powerful demonstration of community-building skills," said MaineCF President Henry Schmelzer. Among those attending the Maine Community Foundation's 25th Anniversary Celebration and the 2008 Noyce Award presentation on Nov. 10 are: (front, left to right) Alison Hagerstrom, Executive Director Greater Franklin Development Corporation; Betty Gensel, FCCCN Liaison; Karen Henderson; student; Ray Therrien, MSAD #9 Adult Education Director; Paul Scalzone, Coastal Enterprises; (back) Dr. Doug Dunlap, Pastor First Congregational Church of Wilton; Gary Perlson, MSAD #58 Adult Education Director; and Bryan Wallace, Central Maine Community College Representative.
