Adult Ed lends learners laptops

 Opportunity Center of North Franklin County Inc., Secretary Kirsten Brown- Burbank (left to right), Treasurer Sylvia Lambert and board chairman Bill Crandall join community college student Karen Henderson, of Phillips, as she navigates software on a new Dell laptop. The computer was recently issued to her through MSAD #58's Adult & Community Education Adult Laptop Lending Initiative for use during her academic year at both KVCC and CMCC. Henderson has been accessing a wide variety of college courses in north Franklin County through the Franklin County Community College Network since she enrolled in 2005. With financial support from the John Merck Foundation, the Opportunity Center board of directors recently granted $10,000 to Franklin County Adult Ed Programs for purchasing laptops in an effort to supply them as resources, and in addition to bridge distances while providing access (through technology) to rural adult learners.
