Doris Evelyn O'Connor
HANOVER — Doris Evelyn (Waters) O'Connor, 81, of Hanover, was received into God's eternal care Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Married June 25, 1960, she was the wife of the late Gilbert James O'Connor who died Feb. 21, 2006.
Born Aug. 9, 1927 in Bellwood, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Roger M. and Viola I. (Bowler) Waters.
Mrs. O'Connor attended St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover. She studied as a medical secretary in New York City and was later employed with several physicians in New Jersey and New Hampshire for more than 20 years. Before moving to Hanover, Mrs. O'Connor lived in Plainfield, N.J., Hampstead, N.H., and Boothbay. In her free time, she loved gardening, sewing, crafts, boating during the summer and skiing on Sugarloaf Mountain. Her passion in life was music, especially organ hymns, and she was an animal lover who especially loved her dog, Topaz, and cat, Beauty.
Surviving is her brother, Cdr. Wayne R. Waters, USN Retired and wife, Betty, of Fairfield, Calif.; two sisters, Minnette L. Kundtz of Clayton, Ohio and Juanita I. Ruths and husband, Rev. Dr. Arthur L.; a close family friend,
Michael Iuzzolino and wife, Joan, of Boothbay; two nieces, Susan Belt and Donna Kundtz; and six nephews, Thomas Waters, Joel Ruths, Mark Ruths, Roger Kundtz, Paul Ruths and David Ruths.
The memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover, with Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser and Rev. Dr. Arthur L. Ruths officiating.
Burial will be private.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joel Ruths,
Mark Ruths, David Ruths, and Roger Kundtz.
