North Franklin Snowmobile Club
By BJ Bangs Special to the Irregular

PHILLIPS — With plenty of thoughts of snow and snowmobiling, the North Franklin County Snowmobile Club is getting ready for some terrific sledding, and they are busy working on a number of projects, both inside and out.

Thirteen members attended a delicious potluck supper on Nov. 2, the regular monthly meeting, to do just that - -make work plans for the winter, making sure that the trails maintain their excellent reputation for terrific sledding.

The Dec. 7 meeting will be the annual Christmas party at the Community House. Each man is to bring a gift for a man and each woman is to bring a gift for a woman. The gifts should be under $10. The party will be a potluck and the club will buy a ham for the dinner. All members are welcome.

The grant has been approved by MSA, and work has begun on the trails and bridges. The club shed has been cleaned and organized. A tool inventory has been taken and tools have been marked. The club needs "backers" for the signs that need to be put up on the trails. Work has been started on the Pillsbury Bridge in Freeman and work needs to be done on the Valley Brook Bridge behind Marie Pillsbury's.

It was voted to have Eric and Lawrence contact the 4- wheeler club and see if we can get some volunteers to help on the bridges and trails since they also use the trails. We have been real short on man- (or woman) power. We are still meeting to do trail, groomer work each Sunday morning at 8 am at Muff Berry's garage. Please come and help out for an hour, half a day or whatever time you can spare. Your help is needed and greatly appreciated.

The club is holding regular monthly meetings for the first Sunday of the month for the duration of the winter (unless holidays interfere) at the Phillips Community Building. Upcoming meetings are set for Dec. 7 (the Christmas party), Jan. 4, Feb. 1, March 1 and April 5. A pot luck supper is at 5 pm with the meeting afterwards. All members are welcome. Club memberships are $20 for an individual and $25 for couples with $2 for each additional dependent under 19. Business memberships are $35.

Pot of Golf tickets are still on sale. For a total of $10, you get 52 chances to win $50. North Franklin Snowmobile Club Community Calendars are available for $6 each. Meeting dates are listed on the calendars with lots of other useful information. Calendar sales support the scholarship fund and they are great for Christmas stocking stuffers.

Polar Blast weekend is set for Feb. 6-8. Check with Diana, 639-4674 if you are interested in a room in the apartment or call Spillover 246-6571 to make your own reservation. Hope you can make it!

For more information about membership or club events, visit the NFSC Web site at www.northfranklinsnowmobileclub. com or call Barbara at 639-5151, Diana or Muff, 639-4674. Think snow and we'll see you at the meetings and on the trails! And remember, NFSC needs your help to make sure those trails make for some great sledding this winter!
