Outdoor Center open!
     The Mt. Abram High School Nordic Team skis through the tape to officially open the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center for the 2008-09 season. Insiders say there is lots of good Nordic terrain open. Norton joins MTA coaching staff
      SALEM TOWNSHIP -- One of the fan favorites back in 2006, Jordan Norton use to light up the boards as a Mt. Abram senior as a member of the Roadrunner basketball team. Norton is glad to be back at the Runnerdome in Salem, now as a coach of the girl's junior varsity basketball team.

Sugarloaf summit open
      CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Receiving more than two feet of natural snow on its trails and glades since it opened, Sugarloaf opened its summit last week. This is vastly due to a revamped and enhanced snowmaking system which includes an abundance of new snow guns, higher capacity pumps, lines and expanded snowmaking terrain.

Ski scholarships awarded
      CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Friday, Nov. 21, the board of the Sugarloaf Regional Ski Educational Foundation met to distribute $2,100 in scholarships from the Brook Gallup Fund and McKay Waddle Scholarship Fund.

Ski racing at Sugarloaf starts in earnest
      CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The Sugarloaf Opener was held Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 and 7 at Sugarloaf Mountain. Saturday, slaloms were held on Narrow Gauge with 40 gates and 39 direction changes in the first run and 46 and 44 in the second. The weather was partly cloudy and the conditions packed powder.
