KINGFIELD — Twenty-two members of the Kingfield Senior Citizens and one guest, Joe Hewey of Cornville, met Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the Kingfield Baptist Church for their annual Christmas party.

The meeting opened with prayer by George Woodford led by the flag salute. Ruth White co-chairman thanked the set up committee Laura Dunham, Carmen Boucher and Joann Gillespie for the beautiful holiday decorations.

Ruth Holmes, "the card lady," gave a report that she had sent out eight get-well, sympathy and birthday cards. The birthday of co-chairman Farrilyn Chase was observed.

Door prizes provided by Laura Dunham and Carmen Boucher were won by Joann Gillespie, Mary Daggett, Thelma Cyr, Joan Corson and Ruth Holmes.

Ruth White noted that 11 seniors had gone to the Kingfield Elementary School for lunch on Nov. 20. The next dinner at the school will be on Dec. 18 at 11 a.m.

Serving on the set up committee for the January meeting and potluck dinner will be Cis Stanley and Thelma Cyr.

At the end of the meeting, treasurer David Holmes read a poem for seniors titled "It's Thursday But Sunday is Coming," concerning the aches and pains that come with being a senior and that if you have your share of troubles, think of others with more pain like the fellow in the wheelchair that will never walk again. Take time to write a letter while the pen is in your palm and thank the lord for the use of your right arm and when you're watching television and each sound is loud and clear, think of those if only they could hear.
