Georgia Woodford, longtime school secretary, said that the fair has been held every year at the school for more than 20 years. "It used to be put on by Glennese Taylor and her son, Bruce, but two years ago I took over signing up the more than 45 crafters," said Woodford.

"We really can take about 75 spaces but some of the crafters take over two spaces now. The money collected from the crafters (approximately $600) goes to the eighth grade class trip. They set up all the tables and take them down," Woodford said.

"This year the eighth grade class decided to let the Girls' Talk/Teen Voices organization put on the luncheon to raise funds for their cause," Woodford said.

Among others raising funds for their organizations was the Kingfield-New Portland Firemen's Auxiliary whose members had baked goods for sale and donated many items that they sold raffle tickets for. The winners included: Laura Dunham, Longfellow's Restaurant gift certificate; Cynthia Fleck of New Vineyard, the Kingfield Woodsman gift certificate; Tim Sova of New Portland, the Video Network gift certificate; and Chuck Twitchell, the electric skillet. The next meeting of the Auxiliary will be on Wednesday Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in Kingfield.

It was a great place to do your Christmas shopping with crafters offering everything from handcrafted jewelry, hand-painted glassware, handcrafted country cupboards, hand-knitted items and Christmas decorations.
