MADISON — Eunice Farnsworth-Ruth Heald Cragin Chapter held its Nov. 8 meeting at the Selectmen's Meeting Room, at the Old Point Facility. The meeting was opened at 10 a.m. in ritualistic fashion by the chapter regent, Kathy Palmer.

Members brought unwrapped gifts and filled two boxes for the veterans at the Landstuhl Hospital in Germany. Some items were designated to go to local veterans as well.

The program that was scheduled, "Women in War," will be presented at a later date due to the absence of the speaker. The regent filled in with a computer presentation of the many DAR pins that can be earned and worn on the official ribbon along with the DAR Insignia.

A Silent Auction was held following the meeting; the money raised goes to the chapter treasury.

The Dec. 13 meeting will be held at 10 a.m. at the Old Point Facility in the Selectmen's Meeting Room which will be decorated with a Christmas tree. Members will exchange small Christmas gifts and cookies. The annual Memorial Service for members who have passed during the year will be presented by the chapter chaplain Linda Dellarma, with the assistance of the vice regent/registrar Linda Miller. The observance will mark the passing of two members; Melba Drake in February and Ella Patterson in October.

Anyone with an interest in joining the Daughters of the American Revolution is welcome to attend a meeting. Your questions will be answered and assistance given to those who wish to join. You may contact the chapter registrar Linda Miller at 628-3684 or by e-mail at hunting@tdstelme.net. The DAR is also on the Web at www.dar.org.

Remember ladies, winter is a great time to research your family history and locate that "patriot" ancestor!
