Ski scholarships awarded

CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Friday, Nov. 21, the board of the Sugarloaf Regional Ski Educational Foundation met to distribute $2,100 in scholarships from the Brook Gallup Fund and McKay Waddle Scholarship Fund.

The following day, the Sugarloaf Ski Club also gave away almost $12,000 in funds from the Dick and Martha Ayotte Fund, the Sugarloaf Ski Club Scholarship funds and monies raised by the town of Carrabassett Valley grant.

All of these scholarships are made available to deserving young skiers and snowboarders to help defray the costs of ski racing and learning expenses in Maine and mostly, but not exclusively, at Sugarloaf.

Each year the respective boards review the applications submitted by local skiers and snowboarders and divide up the available funds.
