Leemans celebrate 50 years together
      PHILLIPS — On Sept. 28, 2008 James and Lillian Leeman of Phillips celebrated their Golden Anniversary at the home of their son, Lonnie Leeman and his spouse Eric Baxter. The celebration was also hosted by their daughter, Rebecca Leeman, her spouse Lisa Cody, and the Leemans' grandson, Chris White.

Grief support programs offered
      LEWISTON -- Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice is offering several programs this winter to provide information and support to adults and youth in central and western Maine grieving the death of a loved one. Program sessions help participants understand the grief process, share feelings and experiences and find hope and comfort.

Santa visits Strong's Christmas party
      STRONG — Last year over 200 youngsters attended the second annual Strong Christmas Party at the Foster Memorial Building. This year, Mary White and her "small army" of volunteers were expecting and prepared for 300. White said that last summer over $2,100 was raised from a lawn sale to benefit the community.

However, this year is special for it marks the Rangeley Public Library's Centennial Anniversary. Police await lab results in Rangeley Pharmacy pills theft
      RANGELEY — Police are awaiting results of evidence testing before moving forward in the theft of 6,000 narcotic pills from Rangeley Pharmacy on Route 4 earlier this month. Police said a narcotics cabinet was cleaned out in less than four minutes on the evening of Dec. 5.
