1961-2008 — He was an avid storyteller and enjoyed time with his family and his dog

PHILLIPS — Lester L. Campbell, 69, of Phillips died Saturday, Dec. 27, at Hospice House in Auburn following a brief battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Temple to Ruben & Ethel (Wilcox) Campbell on May 6, 1939. He married Marie Pillsbury on Jan. 28, 1961.

Lester worked independently most of his life. He owned and operated a snowmobile dealership in the late 60s. Owned and operated a Chainsaw dealership 1983-1986. Co-owned and ran a lumber sawmill 1990-1998 with his son Ruben. He at times worked in the woods and drove truck.

Lester loved playing his guitar and singing, especially gospel music for his family. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, riding ATV's and snowmobiles. He was an avid storyteller and enjoyed times spent with his family and dog Angel.

Lester leaves his wife, Marie; daughter, Cindy and her husband, Jody, of New Vineyard; two sons, Joe and his wife, Alice, of New Vineyard, Ruben and his wife, Karen, of Phillips; two sisters, Helen Ellis of Friendship, Jane Snell of Strong; and one brother, Terri Campbell of Florida; grandchildren, Amanda, Heidi, Michael, Kim,

Brian, Tina, Heather, Shania and Wyatt; and six great-grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by his parents; one sister, Zello; and three brothers, Eddie, Harland and Roger.

Lester was saved prior to his death and his family rejoiced in knowing they will join him again.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 10, 2009 at the Mt. View Bible Church, in New Vineyard, with Rev. Richard Dubuc officiating.

Internment will be in the Mile Square Cemetery in Avon, Maine in the spring.
