Sugarloaf tops 50 inches of snow in January
CARRABASSETT VALLEY -- After yet another January snowstorm, Sugarloaf has topped 50 inches of snow in the month of January and, with 127 inches so far this season, is well ahead of last year's snowfall pace. The resort recorded 14 inches of new snow from last week's storm, and is currently open on 132 trails, including White Nitro and Powder Keg in the Front Face Snowfields.
Last season, widely regarded as one of the best in recent history, Sugarloaf received 37 inches of snow throughout the month of January, and did not top 120 inches of natural snow until Feb 5. The resort finished the season with 224 total inches.
All of this month's natural snow, combined with favorable snowmaking conditions throughout January has given Sugarloaf the best conditions of the season.
The favorable conditions are expected to continue into February, with forecasts calling for more snow on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Sugarloaf will feature premier live music acts throughout February, when the Bud Light Concert Series presents The Derek Trucks Band on Feb 7, and Soulive and Lettuce on Feb 14. Tickets for both shows are available now at 1-800-THE-LOAF.
