To the editor:

The Mt. Abram girls' and boys' ski teams would like to say a big "Thank You!" to all the supporters of our 2009 Maine State Champions Competition.

The meet took place at Big Rock Ski Area in Presque Isle and because of the distance involved required three nights stay in a hotel in addition to other expenses associated with teams traveling to events.

Our participation in the meet would not have been possible without the support of our community members. We thank you for the individual, private donations and for participating in our fundraising efforts by your purchase of Christmas wreaths and of tickets for the Food Basket Raffle.

We managed to have a very successful trip; the girls' ski team placed 2nd in the Alpine event and achieved 2nd place overall for the combined Alpine/Nordic competition. This was a great experience for both the Alpine and Nordic racers which was enabled by your support and participation.

We were able to see and ski a remarkable facility and travel to a part of the state that few have been to. Your support was greatly appreciated and the trip will always be remembered. Bob Luce Carrabassett Valley
