Growing cut flowers for profit

FARMINGTON — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will present educator and researcher Barbara Murphy with an educational program on growing flowers for profit.

The program will be held Wednesday, March 11, from 6:30 until 8 p.m. in the Roberts Learning Center, room 201 at the University of Maine at Farmington; it is handicapped accessible.

Topics which will be covered include: equipment, water and fertilizer needs, flower choices, pest control, harvesting flowers, marketing, and the pros and cons of growing flowers in a high plastic tunnel versus outdoor growing.
