J3s travel to Junior Olympics and finals

(CVA photo) CARRABASSETT VALLEY — For the second year in a row, all the competing CVA J3 alpine racers qualified for post season events at either Junior Olympics or J3 Finals. CVA is sending seven to Junior Olympics and four to finals. Only six girls and eight boys from Maine qualified for Junior Olympics and 14 boys and eight girls for J3 Finals.

CVA's J3 women earned five of six of the coveted Junior Olympic post season spots. Chloe Cochrane qualified in first place after winning almost every race. Earning the third place spot was Mariah Anne Zanca followed by Eliza Whatley in fourth. SCVA skier Jennifer Rowland was fifth and Helena Williams qualified sixth.

The men claimed four of the eight spots at Junior Olympics. Spencer Couch skied his way onto the third spot. Cody Bullen earned the fifth spot followed by Lucas Bonnevie in sixth. SCVA skier Dan Falt qualified eighth.

Nine CVA J3 athletes will head to Gore Mountain in New York to take on the top J3 alpine racers from the Eastern United States in Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G from March 14-17 at Junior Olympics. Nathalie Michaud, Jamie Marshall, Ian Wilson, and Henry Townsend traveled to Waterville Valley, N.H. March 6 to 8 for J3 Finals. SCVA athletes Erin Luce, Elise Luce, Jeremy Leavitt and Matt Beauregard will join the others at Finals in Waterville Valley.
