Ski Museum of Maine receives grant
FARMINGTON — The Ski Museum of Maine has received a $1,000 grant from the H. King & Jean Cummings Fund of the Maine Community Foundation to support its ongoing digital slide presentation "Down- Mountain and Cross-Country: 140 Years of Skiing in Maine."
This popular slideshow, shown and composed by museum board member Scott Andrews, continues to be shown throughout the state at various historical societies, ski clubs and other interested groups.
"This grant allowed us to obtain a projector to continue showing the show, as we were borrowing one on short term," said Museum Director Megan Roberts. "This grant, along with smaller grants from the Sugarloaf Ski Club and Ski Maine, has made it possible to present the show to almost 1,000 people since November, showing them the history of this important industry in Maine."
The museum is located at 109 Church Street, and can be reached by calling Director Roberts at 491-5481 or going to www.skimuseumofmaine.org.
Its mission is to "preserve and publicize the business of skiing in Maine, while celebrating Maine's ski history and heritage."
Those interested in having the slide show at their organization, should contact Scott Andrews at 773-9609.
