Megan Arsenault receives Principal's Award
NORTH ANSON -- Megan Arsenault of Embden, a senior at Carrabec High School, has been selected to receive the 2009 Principal's Award, Principal Kenneth Coville announced recently. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals' Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic achievement and citizenship.
"Megan is a determined student who sets high goals and pursues them tenaciously," Principal Coville said.
Arsenault is pursuing her post-secondary education at UNE in Pharmacy. While in high school she has completed several college level courses, including Advanced Placement courses and Academic courses through the University of Maine.
Arsenault is this year's Valedictorian. Not only was she chosen as Student of the Month at CHS, but she is also President of the National Honor Society and the Student Council Secretary. She has been involved in many school organizations such as Youth Voices, Business League, Math Team and Will Power. Arsenault has also been involved in many athletic activities such as golf, basketball and tennis.
Arsenault, Coville and other award winners and their principals will be attending an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center on Saturday, April 4.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. Mr. McGowan and Mr. Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.
The Principal's Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine's school administrators.
