KES to host fundraisers for school library
      KINGFIELD — The Kingfield Elementary School is hosting two fundraisers to raise money for the school library's book fund. The Book Fair will be in the school library Monday, March 30 thru Friday, April 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds to benefit new books for the KES library.

      STRONG — Strong Elementary School recently released its second trimester honor roll for the 2008/2009 school year.

Scholarships for Maine students available
      ELLSWORTH — The Maine Community Foundation manages more than 400 scholarship funds benefiting students in every county in Maine. MaineCF scholarships support students pursuing music, journalism, teaching, horticulture, technology, the liberal arts and many other fields.

Public speakers move on
     The Strong school Public Speaking Contest was held on Thursday, March 26. Moving on to the District Public Speaking Contest from Strong will be (left to right) Holland Corson, 2nd place; Arthur Ryan, 1st place; and Patia Jellison, 3rd place. Students from grades 5 through 8 may compete at their individual schools in MSAD #58 and from there the top three finishers will compete at the district level on April 9 at 7 p.m. in the Mt. Abram High School cafeteria. The public is invited to attend.

Public speaking participants
     Last week, the Kingfield Elementary School held its public speaking contest. The winners of that event will go on to the district competition April 9 at 7 p.m. at Mt. Abram High School. Pictured are the fifth through eighth grade class winners: (back, left to right) Gino Ham, Draegan Tooker, Thomas Faraday, Emma Houston, Hattie Rosenberg, Jenie Rowland, (front) Seth Thomas and Courtland Talmage. Going on to the district competition are winners Thomas Faraday, Emma Houston and Jenie Rowland.
