Elsie F. Brown
FARMINGTON — Elsie Florence Brown, of Kingfield, died of end-stage dementia on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the Sandy River Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 2004.
She was born in 1925 in Everett, Mass., the daughter of John (Jack) Mutch of Lowell, Mass., and Elsie MacKay of Nova Scotia; and graduated from Medford, Mass. High School.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, the Rev. Charles F. Brown, a retired member of the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, with whom she shared actively in their ministry at Quincy, Mass., Richmond Hill (Queens) N.Y. and Newington, Conn. She is also survived by their daughter, Joyce (Joy) and her husband, John Richardson, of Annapolis, Md.; and their three children, Heidi, Amy and David; Amy's husband, Staff Sgt. Jody Stroud (U.S. Marines) and their children, Aiden and Jacob.
A daughter, Susan, predeceased her in 1996, leaving two children, Kristen and Lucy.
Elsie also leaves her sisters, Mary Denning of Charlmont, Mass. and Irene Freeman of Newburyport, Mass.; and her brother, Duncan Mutch of Colrain, Mass.; and their families.
There was a private viewing in Bucksport, followed by cremation. A service will be held graveside in Orland in the spring or early summer.
