Scholarships for Maine students available

ELLSWORTH — The Maine Community Foundation manages more than 400 scholarship funds benefiting students in every county in Maine. MaineCF scholarships support students pursuing music, journalism, teaching, horticulture, technology, the liberal arts and many other fields. They are available for students attending secondary, post-secondary and graduate schools, as well as non-traditional programs.

Last year, the foundation awarded more than $1.7 million in scholarships to more than 1,200 Maine students attending schools in the state and across the U.S.

"Each scholarship fund is a personal gift of educational opportunity from Maine Community Foundation donors to present and future generations," said Meredith Jones, MaineCF president. The funds are established for a variety of reasons, from honoring a family member to carrying on the tradition of "giving back" that helped an individual through college.
