RANGELEY — In celebration of Earth Day, April 22, Rangeley Lakes Builders Supply sponsored a Rangeley Lakes Region School art contest for grades K-5. On April 15 all of the completed artworks will be on display at Rangeley Lakes Builders Supply for People's Choice voting. Visit RLBS and cast your vote before Earth Day on April 22.

The idea behind the contest was to help raise awareness in area youth about what we can all do to save our planet.

Art teacher, Lilly Gacki, asked the children to interpret "What being 'Green' means" to them. They were further inspired by "earth day" quotes.

The students used recycled materials as their canvas and created their own expressions of the concept.

Two prizes will be awarded in two groups, grades K-2 and grades 3-5. Winners will receive a $50 US Savings Bond as well as a basket of "green" supplies to help "Green" their home.

The winners will be announced at the school assembly on April 30.
