McKay-Waddle races slated for April 18 at Sugarloaf
CARRABASSETT VALLEY — "Don't put away those racing skis yet!" said Jane Wilkinson, an organizer for the McKay-Waddle scholarship races, which are being held this year April 18 on Competition Hill at Sugarloaf.
The scholarships funded by these races are awarded each year to help young racers who are in pursuit of their dreams in the ski world, Wilkinson noted.
The entry fee is $25 and includes a tee-shirt, BBQ lunch and a chance to compete against family and friends.
The many sponsors include Aardvark Outfitters, Gepetto's Restaurant, Patagonia Outlet in Freeport, Mother's Mountain Mustard, The Rack, Happy Tunes, Strokes Restaurant, the Anti-Gravity Complex, Lobsters and more.
These scholarships were set up in memory of Dan McKay and Mike Waddle —two alpine racers who died tragically in the 1980s.
"So, come on out and support a great fund while enjoying the spring weather on the mountain!" Wilkinson urged.
Signup is Saturday morning, April 18, at Sugarloaf's Competition Center.
