Thanks for contributions to home heating fund

To the editor:

This letter is to express the thanks of the Kingfield United Methodist Church to all those who contributed to our portion of the home heating fund this winter.

Thanks to the generosity of many and the bottle/can donation project, the church was able to contribute slightly over $4,000 to assist folks in need of home heating assistance. It is significant, I believe, that $107 of that total came through the bottle-can redemption project.

Now we look forward to the winter of 2009-2010 with the assumption that the need will exist during those cold months as well. Some of the readers of The Irregular are already cutting and splitting wood for the next stretch of cold months. We can all help those in need next winter by contributing to the bottle-can redemption project.

So, this summer, when the sun is shining and the charcoal is fired, collect your cans and bottles and turn them in at the Old Mill Redemption Center in Kingfield. Someone will offer a prayer of thanks come next winter. Many thanks, Jack McKee Kingfield On behalf of KUMC
