Baseball, softball review
Contact Mt. Abram junior Mark Walk hits a ball into play in a back-and-forth varsity game against Winthrop on April 27. The Roadrunners gained a 3-2 lead in the fourth, lost that lead in the fifth by the score of 5-3 and regained the lead again in the sixth with a three-run inning. MTA's Dylan Tisor drove in three runs for the Roadrunners and freshman Josh Beedy had two hits. Beedy leads the Roadrunners in hitting with a 400 average as of Monday. The Ramblers rallied in the final frame to put three on the board which was enough for the 8-6 win. (David Hart photo) NORTH FRANKLIN COUNTY - - The Mt. Abram varsity baseball team fell to a 1-3 record in a loss against Lisbon last Friday. Dylan Tisor and Josh Smith were credited with the only hits on the day for MTA. Aaron McGinness fanned five batters over four innings, but went on to take the loss for the Roadrunners.
The Lady Roadrunners concluded their week with a 9- 2 win over Lisbon on Friday. Rachel Fullerton drove in three RBIs on two hits. Kenni Norton drove in two in two hits including a triple. The MTA offense enjoyed a strong performance by pitcher Molly McCafferty who sat down eight that day by the way-of-the-K. Jillian Withee also was credited with a pair of hits that day. The Lady Roadrunners improved to a 2-2 record with the win.
The 4-0 Livermore Falls baseball team will be visiting MTA today along with a very tough softball squad. The two MTA varsity teams visited Boothbay last Monday and will travel to Dirigo next Monday before returning home to Salem on Wednesday, May 13 to host Hall- Dale.
In junior varsity action, Dirigo will visit the Roadrunners this Friday, May 8.
In middle school baseball and softball play, Stratton is visiting Kingfield today at 4:00 p.m. Next week, Phillips will travel to Kingfield on Monday, Rangeley will come to Stratton on Tuesday and Strong will host Kingfield on May 13. The final game of the middle school schedule concludes with Phillips hosting Stratton on May 14.
