Franklin County history captured in book

FARMINGTON — "Remembering Franklin County: Stories from the Sandy River Valley," written by Luann Yetter and recently published by The History Press, will have a book launch Thursday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at Devaney, Doak and Garrett Booksellers, 193 Broadway. The event will include a discussion and book signing by the author.

Stories of pioneers, politics and peculiarities are brought to life as Yetter describes the plights of colonial founders and Indian partners, the innovation and tradition of Franklin County's many family-run businesses, and accounts of clever crimes in this collection of vignettes revealing the area's unique history.

An expert on Franklin County, Yetter wrote the local history column for the Lewiston Sun Journal for 10 years. She has also published dozens of articles for other regional publications including Yankee and Down East.

A resident of Franklin County with an MA from the University of New England (Portland), Yetter teaches writing and journalism at the University of Maine- Farmington and regularly involves her students in local history research.
