MSAD #58 has had an active NHS chapter since 1938. Each year, the chapter sponsors several service projects for the school and community, which in the last few years, have included hosting fall and spring blood drives, walking in the Relay for Life event to raise money and awareness in the fight against cancer, serving water to runners at the Sugarloaf Marathon and assisting at the district-wide middle school Cinco de Mayo dance.
The National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students. Chapters exist in more than 15,000 schools and since 1921 millions of students have been selected for membership.
