SALEM - - The impressive Mt. Abram girl's varsity softball team advanced to a 7-2 record with a mercy rule 13-1 win against Madison last Friday.

It was small ball and great base running, head varsity coach Lani Roy credited after the game.

Roy credited a strong offensive performance by Kylie Rolbiecki, Kenni Norton and Jillian Withee.

Rolbiecki's speed is a factor on the base paths as she reached on a bunt with her first at-bat and singled two additional times going three-for-three with a walk and plating three for the Lady Roadrunners.

Norton went two-for-three with a walk and came across three times. Withee was credited with a blast shot RBI double to center and scored twice. Rebecca Fullerton also added two runs for MTA out of the twohole in the line-up.

"Molly (McCafferty) has been pitching very well but if they hit she's letting her defense back her up. The Fullerton twins are grabbing just about everything in left and center and Emma Twitchell in right is doing great," Roy said.

Mt. Abram scored one in the first, two in the second inning and added three in the third inning. A six-run sixth inning ended the game early in walk-off fashion with MTA's seventh win of the season.

Roy explained that their big games of the season will come when they visit Telstar this Friday and travel to Georges Valley later in the season. "I feel pretty confident. As long as we play our 'A' game, running the bases, playing small-ball and laying down the bunts and if we have good heads up on the bases and big hits when we need it - -we'll be fine. Molly is pitching great and she's confident with her pitching and confident with the defense behind her," Roy explained.
