Emma James receives Plum Creek Scholarship
Emma James recently received a scholarship from Plum Creek. BINGHAM -- Plum Creek recently announced it has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Mt. Abram High School student Emma James.
Plum Creek annually awards scholarships to exemplary high school seniors who plan to continue their education after graduation. Students are selected based on their academic achievements, participation in extracurricular activities and career goals.
James plans to attend Bowdoin College in Brunswick. In high school, she was captain of both the varsity soccer team and the Nordic ski team and was president of the National Honor Society. She also was the recipient of the Principal's Award from her high school and the Richard E. Lovejoy Award, an academic excellence and sportsmanship award.
She is the daughter of Ellen and James James.
This year, Plum Creek awarded 109 scholarships to high school seniors around the country totaling $141,000. In Maine, 14 students were awarded 2009 Plum Creek scholarships totaling $17,000.
