Trappers' clinic June 5-6
LEXINGTON TOWNSHIP — The Carrabassett Valley Trappers recently announced that its annual trapping clinic will be held on June 5 and 6. This annual affair is held at the Happy Horseshoe Campground, 1100 Long Falls Dam Road (Maine Atlas Map 30).
The free demonstrations will run from 2 to 7 p.m. on the 5th and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 6th. These demonstrations address methods to harvest various furbearers of Maine. Friday will address bear, bobcat, beaver, fox and coyote. Saturday will address the use of Conibear traps, marten and fisher, coyote, muskrat, bear, mink, beaver and bobcat.
A State Trapping Instructor Workshop will also be held on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Instructors wishing to attend should call Rick Rogers at 639-5421 for reservations.
Admission into the campground is $3 for adults; under 12 are Free. Food is available from the campground Deli, and Saturday evening their famous campground Beanhole Bean Dinner will be available.

The Carrabassett Valley Trappers is a group of individual professional trappers that have been providing these clinics for a number of years to teach the most humane and biologically sound methods of harvesting furbearers found in Maine.
According to a spokesperson, it has always been the group's purpose to educate the new trapper on proper methods and to refresh the old timers and maybe teach them something new.
