Baseball, softball post season underway

WESTERN MOUNTAINS - - The regular season for high school baseball and softball is now behind us and Mt. Abram and Rangeley sent three teams to the playoff hunt.

Mt. Abram baseball (8-8) finished eighth in Heal Point standings and drew a spot in a tough private school bracket. MTA faced ninth ranked Triap (10-6) in the preliminary round yesterday.

The game was played after press deadline. The winner of the Triap and Mt. Abram game stays in the private academy bracket and plays the top seeded St. Dominic (15-1) team on Thursday, June 11.

The Lady Roadrunners (10-6) ended the season drawing the sixth place and faced the Madison Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday, June 9. The Roadrunners handled the Bulldogs two times in the regular season. On May 15, the ladies won 13-1 and again on June 3, MTA overpowered by the score of 12-2.

The winner of Tuesday's contest will travel to Jay on Thursday to take on the third ranked 13-3 Lady Tiger team.

Semi-final games are scheduled for Saturday, June 13.

The Rangeley boys' baseball team (12-2) finished their season in second place in Heal Point standings. One win on Saturday, June 13 against third ranked Buckfield (10- 5) would put them into the regional final game. The regional final game starts on June 16 and could include top ranked Richmond, fourth ranked Greenville or fifth ranked Vinalhaven.
