Junior golf program begins
CARRABASSETT VALLEY — This year's Alden MacDonald Junior Golf Program will consist of three different instructional programs. The cost of each program includes instructional time with the Sugarloaf Professionals, free use of clubs if needed, unlimited play during class time, range use and end of season awards cook-out.
There will be an informational meeting on June 21. Parents are encouraged to participate as volunteers.
Golf Cubs, ages 5 to 7 boys and girls, meets on Sunday nights, from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at the pro shop. The focus is learning the fundamentals of the game as well as some basic rules and etiquette. Class will meet 10 sessions.
Chic-a-tees, ages 8 to 18 girls, meets on Tuesdays and Sundays from 5 to 7 p.m. The focus will be on learning the game of golf with about 50 percent of the time spent playing on the course. Rules and etiquette will also be a key part of the instruction. The concept is to keep the girls separate for more focused instruction and different learning styles. There will be at least two opportunities to play at different courses other than Sugarloaf for those who have shown a proficiency to do so. Class will meet 19 sessions.
