Kingfield Festival Days a huge success

To the editor:

A big thank you to all those who came out to enjoy Kingfield Festival Days despite Mother Nature's visit!

We plan activities and events and hope the weather will cooperate and I guess it did in a way because it stopped raining JUST in time for the parade on Saturday and waited until AFTER Mrs. Kingfield's announcement and ice cream social on Friday. I couldn't have asked for better timing.

As far as thank-yous, there are a few people that need to be mentioned for their help and support. Jonathan Jordan, who gave permission to use his parking lot for the Vertical Outlaws to perform their amazing motorcycle stunts. Jordan's moved around the barriers and cleared out storage areas to be used. This was something new for entertainment thanks to Alan Stewart who knows the team of performers and thought they would be enjoyed by the town. I was able to catch one performance and was very impressed with their skills on the bikes as well as their people-pleasing attitude. I'd say it was a huge success!

I also want to say thank you to our new principal at the elementary school, Marco Aliberti, for allowing us to use the school Sunday for the Northern Stars Planetarium. We had 75 who attended, young and old, and I think it was a big hit. The stars were out Sunday night... how many of you went out looking for those stars and constellations he showed us?

I also want to thank the people who helped with different events during the weekend Diane Keoskie and Rosemary Montagu (flower arranging contest), Shelly Poulin (photo contest) and Shauna Boucher (skateboard jam) who actually made new ramps with her dad this year. Melanie Meldrum and Cally Brown who do the annual bike, doll carriage & pet parade as well as the games & crafts. Tammy McCutcheon, who is a part-time Kingfield resident, also did games & crafts with the children. And everyone fit under the big tent for this during the rain! Thanks Heather & Michelle for doing the cookoff contest. A big thank you to Lorna Nichols at the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and Heidi Murphy for help with the brochures.

Thanks mostly to those who hung in there with me all year: Diane Christen, Linda Stewart, Dee Menear, Melanie Meldrum, my mentor Tammy Goldfrank and most of all, my husband, Terry, who always pitches in for me! Myra Coffin Kingfield
