Clydis Waneta Henderson
AUBURN — Clydis Waneta Henderson, 78, of Dixfield, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 with her family at her side.
She was born on Jan. 29, 1931 in Rangeley to Hayden and Vesta (Nile) Ross. Clydis graduated from Rangeley High School where she was an outstanding basketball player. On Jan. 10, 1953, she married George M. Henderson. During her life she worked at several wood turning mills and spent 20 years at Stowell McGregor's in Dixfield.
She enjoyed the comfort of her home where she adored feeding the wildlife off her back porch. She was generous to a fault, and a loving caretaker of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her unique sense of humor and funny sayings will be greatly missed.
Clydis is survived by four sons, Wayne Henderson and wife, Wanda, of Fort Kent, William Henderson and wife, Allison, of Ashland City, Tenn., Wendall Henderson of Dixfield and Eric Henderson and wife, Margaret, of Bridgton; two daughters, Mary Bond and husband, Brad, of East Livermore, and Susie Gaudet and husband, Paul, of Dixfield; 17 grandchildren, Wayne Henderson Jr., Kevin Henderson, Crystal Jandreau and Curtis Henderson, Joshua Henderson, Theresa and Christopher Henderson, Jason, Nicole and Kimberly Bond, Brian, Thomas, Sarah and Leo Henderson and Kate, Keith, and Krista Gaudet; nine great-grandchildren; and sister Methylene Hanscom of Jay.
She was predeceased by her husband, George; grandson, Ean Henderson; brothers, Reynold and Joe Ross; and three sisters, Ethylene Kennedy, Lulene McKenna and Ardis Thompson.
Public graveside funeral services were held, Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Evergreen Cemetery in Rangeley with Rev. John Gensel officiating.
