Greater Purpose to perform
EAST WILTON — The East Wilton Union Church will be hosting the group Greater Purpose on Sunday, Aug. 9 as part of its "Concerts on the Lawn" series. The public is invited and encouraged to attend all the concerts.
According to the group, Greater Purpose is a Christian band formed to celebrate Christ's life through song. Their songs are scriptural but are written based on the member's lives, are from the heart and are meant to minister to others, both believers and non-believers.
The unique sound of Greater Purpose is influenced from such greats as John Denver, Sandi Patty, Dan Fogelberg and The Gaithers. The heartfelt words, catchy melodies and powerful, pristine lead vocals along with the supporting harmonies, acoustic guitars, keyboard and rhythm section are sure to touch your very soul, a spokesperson for the event commented.
The concerts are held each Sunday evening in August and begin at 6 p.m. Chairs are provided but attendees are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held inside. Light refreshments and a time of fellowship will follow each concert.
The concerts are free, but there will be an opportunity for a free-will offering. For more information about the Concerts on the Lawn series, call 645-4297.
