CVA Golf and Tennis Classic celebrates 25 years
CARRABASSETT VALLEY -— The 25th Anniversary CVA Sugarloaf Golf and Tennis Classic is scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 21, 22 and 23. The weekend's golfing activities include the Shipyard Brewing Company Two-Person Scramble on Friday, a Saturday shambles format and shoot and a Sunday scramble format tournament. Tennis players of all abilities are welcome to join the twoday doubles tennis tournament.
Other activities include a banquet Saturday evening featuring a live and silent auction where guests bid on items such as gift certificates to local restaurants, golf and stay packages, ski equipment and ski tickets all generously donated by CVA supporters. The public is invited to all of the weekend's activities.
Each year, money is raised during the Classic Golf and Tennis weekend from the generosity of participants, sponsors and donors, for the Martha B. Webber Scholarship Fund. Webber's personal commitment to Carrabassett Valley Academy was a driving force behind the founding and development of the academy. The scholarship fund has been established in her memory to help deserving student-athletes from Maine aspire to their athletic and academic goals at CVA. For 24 years people have been coming together to celebrate the ideals Martha Webber had for Maine students.
"We are more thankful every year for the opportunity to see old friends, meet new ones and feel the support of so many great community members and CVA friends for the Martha B. Webber Scholarship Fund recipients," a spokesperson said.
The Classic tournament is open to golfers and tennis players of all abilities from serious competitors to those who just want to have fun on the links or the courts.
