(Contributed photo) CARRABASSETT VALLEY - - Twin brothers from Wyman received the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America during a court of honor at the Carrabassett Valley Outdoor Center, on Sunday, Aug. 30.

Christian and Patrick Beauregard, 16, sons of Jeff and Ragan Beauregard, were presented with their official Eagle Scout pins in a ceremony attended by a large group of family, friends and Boy Scout officials.

The boys are members of Troop #525 sponsored by the Carrabassett Valley Outdoor Association for scouts from throughout the Sugarloaf area, including the Kingfield, Carrabassett Valley and Stratton regions. CVOA took over the sponsorship of the troop two years ago.

Taking part in the ceremony were scouts from Troop 497 of Jackman, where the twin brothers began their scouting careers as Cub Scouts and in 2004 bridged to the scout troop. In 2006, the Beauregard family moved to the Sugarloaf area and the boys continued their affiliation with the Jackman troop but it soon became evident that commuting back to Jackman would not be feasible on a long term.

That's when Troop 525 was formed with Ragan serving as scoutmaster, and Jeff as a member of the troop committee.

On June 27, 2007 Patrick and Christian achieved the rank of Life Scout and began their journey towards Eagle.

The major requirements for Eagle are a total of 25 merit badges plus completion of a public service project. The Beauregard boys earned a total of 68 merit badges and undertook significant projects that consumed a large part of the summer for both boys.

Patrick's project was the replacement of the dilapidated dugouts at the Stratton Little League Field, while Christian's was the creation of an NRA-certified pistol range and shooting station at CVOA's range in Carrabassett Valley. Both projects included the design and construction of the facilities utilizing volunteer workers and resources the boys solicited from area businesses.

The boys completed all their Eagle requirements earlier this year, passed a Boy Scout Board of Review during the spring and received their official insignia Sunday.

Following the ceremony, those attending took part in a potluck supper organized by the troop.
