Scramble raises $2,200 for Phillips library

(Winona Davenport photo) FARMINGTON FALLS — Fourteen teams competed under very hot skies for the first five spots in the 12th annual Phillips Nine Hole Golf Scramble at the Sandy River Golf Course on Sunday, Aug. 22.
The winners are as follows:
First place (26): Gordon Davenport Jr., Gordie Davenport III, Courty Dill and Gary LaGrange.
Second place (28): Chad Beedy, Bob Boyka, Corey Boyka and Josh Vining.
Third place (29): the Olson family — Gunnar Sr., Gunnar Jr., Tollef and Nathan.
Fourth place (30): Greg and Robert Savard, Lance Wilcox and John Bickford.
Fifth place (31) matching cards: Dan Richardson, Wayne Moody, Duane Stefani and David Anderson.
The winner of the Men's Long Drive was Nate Olson; Women's Long Drive, Joan Thomas; Putting Contest Playoff, Gary LaGrange; Chipping Contest, Jim Curran 2' 1".
Winners in the Closest to the Pin Contest were: #1 Gordie Davenport III 8' 2"; #2 Jim Curran 12' 2"; #3 Gary LaGrange 7' 4"; #4 Greg Savard 19' 11"; #5 Jim Curran 2'; #6 Scotty Bishop 5' 2"; #7 Lance Wilcox 4' 3"; #8 Robert Savard 3"; #9 Gunnar Olson Sr. 10' 8".
Lisa Jones was the Mulligan Drawing winner. Gunnar Olson Sr. won the 50/50 raffle. And Bradley Balduff won the Buckboard Drawing.
Players and volunteers were served a buffet following the tournament. A profit of $2,200 was raised for the Phillips Public Library.
