Lady Runners settle for a tie

SALEM — Mt. Abram held a 1-0 lead through the first half, but could not hold Mountain Valley to a shutout in the second half last Friday, Sept. 11.
After Mt. Abram maintained dominating control most of the game, Mountain Valley managed to score with 17:56 remaining in regulation to tie the game at one.
With four minutes remaining in regulation, MTA had its chances when Kylie Rolbiecki booted two corner kicks in a row that rattled around inside the six. One kick bounced cleanly off the far post before it was cleared out.
With a little over two minutes remaining, MTA's Molly McCafferty shot rang off the cross bar, but missed going into the net.
With 10 seconds remaining in the first overtime, Jillian Withee's shot was close to ending it, but the Valley keeper was able to make the save. The second scoreless five minute period resulted in no opportunities for a win for ether team, who settled for the tie.
The 1-1-1 Lady Roadrunner squad is traveling to St. Dom's today, Sept. 16 in the first MVC matchup in which the Saints have entered the conference. On Friday, Sept. 18, the Ladies will host the Lady Bulldogs of Madison at 7 p.m.
